While not a sacrament, the Our Lady of Lourdes parish community welcomes the decision to hold a religious ceremony as part of a young woman’s Quinceañera.

A Quinceañera is a mostly secular custom where a fifteen-year-old girl is presented to society for the first time, but can be accompanied by a religious celebration. The religious ceremony is a thanksgiving to God as well as an acknowledgement of her adult responsibilities to her faith, family and community.

During a typical Quinceañera Mass, the young lady renews her baptismal promises, receives Holy Communion, makes an offering to the Virgin Mary and receives gifts blessed by the priest, usually items such as a tiara, ring or necklace.
