We have gotten very many questions about the Perpetual Adoration Grotto and we understand how dearly our many devoted Adorers miss its Eucharistic presence. Of course, the problem that first caused the closure of the Grotto, the COVID 19 pandemic, is still around and as dangerous as ever. Even with the recent re-opening of churches throughout our city and state, the small space inside the Grotto and the narrow hallway leading to it make it very difficult to practice the necessary social distancing. However, new problems have arisen in the Grotto even since the onset of the pandemic. The heavy Spring rainfall we experienced this year has exposed new leaking through the building masonry and roof. The resultant damage to the south wall has been quite serious. We are in the process of contracting to address all of these problems, but the repairs will not happen overnight and we will not be able to use the space again until they are done. We will keep you informed of our progress, but pray for no rain for at least 3 more weeks!
