Our beloved Deacon Daniel died on Sunday, January 17, 2021, after an extended illness. Our sympathies are with his family at this time: 

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the ability of friends and family to come together in person and grieve in typical ways. Arrangements are as follows: 

The family has asked for a visitation on Thursday, January, 21 at Our Lady of Lourdes church from 3pm - 7pm. Due to this pandemic, the visitation will be in keeping with the bounds of pandemic protocols and will follow these principles:


Attendees for Visitation:

  • You do not have to register for visitation
  • Please ust enter through the ramp on the Ashland side of the church and will exit another door
  • Remember to bring your own mask. Masks must be worn over the mouth and nose.
  • Hand-hygiene practice will be distributed
  • Ushers will ensure practice of social distancing, maintaining at least 6 feet between attendees
  • You will not be allowed to gather or take a seat in the church, simply pass by the casket, view the body and then leave.

Funeral Mass
The mass of Christain burial will be held on Friday, January 22 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes church, 4640 N. Ashland Ave, Chicago. 

Attendees for Funeral Mass:

  • Capacity limit is 170. Reservatons are required > REGISTER HERE or call the rectory at 773 561 2141.
    • First come, first served basis.
    • Only person per time slot, please.
    • If reserving a  for a family, please adjust the quantity and add additional names in the comment section.
  • Please follow COVID protocols as outlined below:
    • Check in with greeters upon arrival. They will direct you throughout your time in the church.
    • Please do not wander through the church on your own.
    • Remember to bring your own mask. Masks must be worn over the mouth and nose.
    • Greeters will assist you in using hand sanitizer upon entry into the church as well as just prior to receiving communion.
    • Practice social distancing throughout your time in the church.
    • Do NOT come into the church if you are ill.
    • You assume the risk of contracting COVID-19 anytime you enter a public space. While our staff of volunteers has taken every appropriate measure to prevent spread of the disease, such precautions DO NOT eliminate the risk of infection.
    • If you are within a more vulnerable age group (65 or older) or have a preexisting health condition, please be mindful of this exposure risk to COVID-19 in the church.
    • You will not be allowed to come into church early and wait in a pew for the funeral

Memorial Donations/Mass Intentions

  • Please contact the rectory to make any memorial donation or purchase mass intentions. 
  • In lieu of flowers contributions to Our Lady of Lourdes is appreciated.
